1 Begin Your Afternoon in the Heart of the Maya Community
Your experience begins around 2:00 p.m. at our traditional Mayan palapa in the Muyil community—the heart of our cooperative. You’ll be welcomed with a freshly prepared traditional Mayan lunch made with local ingredients. Meet your guide, learn about our mission in sustainable tourism, and get ready for an unforgettable journey into the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.

2 Navigate the Ancient Mayan Waterways
Board your boat and follow the same sacred route once used by the Maya to trade between inland lagoons and the Caribbean Sea. You’ll cross the stunning lagoons of Muyil, Chunyaxché, and Capelchén—each surrounded by lush mangroves and home to rich biodiversity.

3 Visit Xlapak: A Temple Between Water and Sky
Stop at the ancient Mayan site of Xlapak, where your guide will share stories of Mayan navigation, astronomy, and daily life. Surrounded by calm waters and dense vegetation, this sacred site reveals the deep connection between the Maya and their natural environment.

4 Float in Serenity Through Ancient Canals
Enjoy the highlight of the afternoon as you gently float for nearly a kilometer down a crystal-clear canal framed by orchids, bromeliads, and mangroves. This peaceful “contemplative floating” invites you to disconnect and embrace the beauty and silence of Sian Ka’an.

5 Witness the Sunset on the Return from Boca Paila
From the meeting point of the lagoon and the Caribbean Sea at Boca Paila, begin your return journey just as the sun starts to descend. As you navigate back through the lagoons toward Muyil, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views—warm golden light reflecting over calm waters, birds returning to their nests, and the reserve bathed in soft twilight hues.

6 A Magical End to the Day (Upon Request: Wine or Private Tour)
Upon request, enhance your experience with a glass of wine or make it a private romantic tour—ideal for couples or groups seeking a more intimate connection with nature. As daylight fades, the peaceful boat ride back to Muyil becomes a moment of reflection, closing your day in harmony with the rhythms of the biosphere.
