1 Arrive & Unwind in Muyil
Your experience begins at 1:45 p.m. with a self-arrival at our traditional Mayan palapa in the Muyil community. Here, you'll have time to use the restrooms, pay the mandatory federal conservation bracelet, and select your late lunch option from our traditional menu so our local cooks can prepare it fresh while you explore.
2 Navigate Ancient Mayan Waterways
At 2:00 p.m., step aboard our small-group boats (maximum of six people) operated by our skilled local captains. You’ll navigate the ancient aquatic route through the beautiful Muyil and Chunyaxché lagoons, surrounded by lush mangroves and the remarkable birdlife of the reserve.
3 Discover Xlapak & Float in Serenity
Arrive at the ancient Mayan customs base of Xlapak. Here, you can dive into the pristine canal from the dock for a 30-to-45-minute contemplative float. Drift gently along a 950-meter journey surrounded by beautiful orchids and bromeliads.
4 Hike the Sian Ka'an Savanna
As your floating journey concludes at "Chan Muelle," you will step out of the water to begin a scenic 900-meter walk through the Sian Ka’an savanna. This distinct ecosystem provides a stunning contrast to the wetlands and allows you to dry off naturally as you reconnect with the terrestrial landscape.
5 Savor a Freshly Prepared Local Meal
Conclude your adventure back at our Mayan palapa around 3:30 p.m. Sit down to a delicious, freshly prepared meal featuring choices like grilled chicken, chicken fajitas, grilled fish, or a vegan vegetable grill, accompanied by traditional sides and refreshing hibiscus water.
