Itinerary

Enjoy a comfortable, direct hotel pick-up from Tulum Center or the Hotel Zone between 6:00 and 6:45 a.m. Our team will confirm your exact time via WhatsApp or email after booking. Travel a short distance to the Muyil community, the gateway to both ancient history and the Sian Ka’an Reserve. Itineraries are subject to change.

Upon arrival at our cooperative’s palapa, you are welcomed with regional coffee and a wholesome traditional breakfast. As you enjoy the local flavors, your guide will introduce you to the history of the Maya in this region and our commitment to regenerative tourism. Itineraries are subject to change.

Enter the Muyil Archaeological Zone for a guided exploration of its most significant structures. Marvel at the soaring "El Castillo," discover the "Sacbé Group," and learn about the "Great Platform." Your guide will share exclusive insights—from ancient engineering to the site’s role in the Caste War—bringing the stones to life. Itineraries are subject to change.

Leaving the ancient city, head to the lagoon dock to board a private boat. Glide across the turquoise waters of the Muyil and Chunyaxché lagoons, following the ancient maritime routes of the Maya. Keep an eye out for aquatic birds and the diverse flora of the wetlands. Itineraries are subject to change.

Reach the Xlapak temple, an ancient customs checkpoint. Jump into the refreshing, clear canal water for a relaxing 30-to-45-minute float downstream. Afterward, walk along the wooden boardwalk through the unique Sian Ka’an savanna ecosystem, observing rare plants and birds, before meeting your boat at for the return trip. Return by boat to the mainland and head back to our palapa for a well-deserved traditional Mayan lunch. Reflect on your journey through time and nature before your transfer back to your hotel in Tulum, arriving around 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. Itineraries are subject to change.

NOT INCLUDED: Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve federal entry fee (MX$218 approx./ approx. US$12 per person) This mandatory federal fee is collected by CONANP (Mexico’s National Commission for Natural Protected Areas) to support conservation efforts. It is not retained by the tour operator and must be paid upon arrival at our cooperative’s palapa by card or cash.

Not Suitable For

Pets (strictly prohibited by protected area regulations), unaccompanied elderly, and pregnant women in their final 6 weeks of pregnancy due to boat movement risks. Children under 4 are permitted only with full adult supervision. Travelers with serious mobility difficulties (due to jungle/ruins walking paths).

What to Bring

Comfortable walking shoes (for the ruins/archaeological site), sunglasses, a hat, a long-sleeve sun shirt for extra protection (sunscreen is restricted), biodegradable sunscreen (only if necessary), towel, swimwear, a change of clothes, and a non-plastic reusable water bottle.

Alcohol, drugs, drones, vaping, smoking, regular sunscreen, and plastic bottles are not allowed. Guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted on the tour.

(6:00 AM – 2:00 PM) Hotel pick-up, traditional Mayan breakfast at our cooperative, guided exploration of Muyil Archaeological Zone, boat ride across the lagoons, contemplative canal float (Xlapak), scenic savanna walk, and a traditional Mayan lunch before returning to Tulum.
