1 Begin Your Day with Purpose
Whether you join us in the early morning or at midday, your experience begins at our traditional Mayan palapa in the Muyil community—the heart of our cooperative. Depending on your tour time, you’ll be welcomed with either a wholesome Mayan breakfast or a freshly prepared traditional lunch, both made with fresh, local ingredients. Here, you’ll meet your guide, learn about our mission in sustainable tourism, and get ready for your journey into the Sian Ka’an Biosphere.

2 Sail Through Ancient Mayan Waterways
Step aboard our small-group boats and navigate the same aquatic route once used by the Maya in their trading canoes. You’ll explore a chain of stunning lagoons—Muyil, Chunyaxché, Capelchén, and Boca Paila—each with its own unique ecosystem shaped by the meeting of fresh and saltwater.

3 Visit Xlapak, a Sacred Mayan Site
In the heart of the reserve, step onto the dock at Xlapak, where an ancient Mayan temple once served as a customs base and astral observatory. Surrounded by mangroves and timeless waters, your guide will share fascinating stories of Mayan history, culture, and their deep connection with the natural world.

4 Float in Serenity Along Ancient Canals
Discover a truly magical experience as you float gently for nearly a kilometer down a crystal-clear ancient canal flanked by orchids, bromeliads, and mangroves. This 30–45 minute “contemplative floating” is a moment of peace, connection, and wonder that invites you to slow down and be fully present in the natural beauty of Sian Ka’an.

5 Encounter Rich Wildlife and Vibrant Birdlife
Along the way, you may spot manatees, crocodiles, and a vibrant variety of aquatic birds. With expert local guides and limited boat capacity, you’ll enjoy an intimate and respectful encounter with the incredible biodiversity of Sian Ka’an.

6 Pause Where the Lagoon Meets the Sea
Take a scenic break at Boca Paila, where the tranquil lagoons meet the Caribbean Sea in a breathtaking natural union. Take in the panoramic views, capture unforgettable photos, and—weather permitting—enjoy a refreshing swim in this breathtaking natural setting.

7 Savor Tradition, Support Sustainability
Both Early Morning and Midday Tour guests return by boat to Muyil at the end of their adventure. Early Morning Tour guests enjoy a freshly prepared traditional Mayan lunch at our palapa before heading back to Tulum, arriving between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Midday Tour guests conclude their experience at the palapa with time to relax before returning to their hotel, arriving around 6:00 p.m. Every meal and moment here supports our cooperative’s mission of community well-being and environmental preservation.
