1 Begin Your Day with Tradition
Your journey starts early at our traditional Mayan palapa in the Muyil community—the heart of our cooperative. You’ll be warmly welcomed with a delightful breakfast featuring fresh, local ingredients. Here, you’ll meet your certified guide, learn about our sustainable tourism mission, and prepare for an immersive adventure into Mayan history.
2 Uncover Living History at Muyil
Step beyond the ordinary "ruins" and explore a city that thrived for over a millennium. Your expert guide will lead you to "El Castillo," a 17-meter pyramid that served as an ancient lighthouse, and reveal the secrets of the "Templo 8" (The Pink Temple), with its mysterious tunnel and massive walls once used to preserve marine goods. Witness the architectural evolution from the Petén style to the East Coast style in newly opened areas like the "Sacbé Group."
3 Walk the Path of the Ancients
Traverse the jungle transition from the stone city to the water's edge. You’ll see how the Maya adapted their lives to this environment, passing through areas that whisper stories of the Caste War and ancient trade. This short transfer leads you to the lagoon dock, the gateway to the aquatic world.
4 Sail Across Sacred Lagoons
Board our small-group boats (max 6 passengers) and navigate the historic trade route that connected the Caribbean Sea to the mainland. Cruise across the Muyil and Chunyaxché lagoons, a mesmerizing landscape where freshwater meets the sea, creating a sanctuary for biodiversity.
5 Float in Serenity at Xlapak
Arrive at the ancient Mayan customs post of Xlapak. Here, you’ll slip into the crystal-clear waters of an ancient canal for a "contemplative floating" experience. Let the gentle current carry you for roughly 30 to 45 minutes (950 meters) through a peaceful tunnel of mangroves, orchids, and bromeliads—a moment of pure connection with nature.
